Awapuni - Visioning has opened new horizons

An entertaining sergeant session
President David leading from the front

It was great to be welcomed into the friendship and fun or the Awapuni Club.  Situated in the heart of Palmerston North, in fact meeting in the same venue as the Palmerston North Club.  This Club once had a Rotary Lounge venue but this has since been sold and they have moved into this venue.  Awapuni is a small Club but has much activity and has just completed a Club Visioning exercise with PDG Ross, PDG David and AG Deb.  The reports are that this was a most valuable exercise and from it are a number of initiatives they will be following through.  Members partners have a Plant to Plate project which is becoming very
Bill and Mary Hong
successful in many schools.  The Club recently was able to purchase a van to assist in this project.  At the meeting I had the pleasure to catch up with Guy Colby - a past teaching colleague of mine when I taught at Postgate School. We also had the honour of awarding a Paul Harris Fellow to a long serving member Bill Hong.  It was good that Bill's wife Mary was able to share in this important occasion.  Thanks folks at Awapuni for your welcome, looking after Jenny during the Board meeting, and for making us both feel so welcomed.  Bon Voyage to President David who is about to take his wife Helen off overseas on a long awaited trip.  Safe travels.
