Farewell 2011 and welcome 2012
PDG Howard Tong and PDG Dick Garner - we are the Australasian Public Image Coordinators
Another year is about to end and the service provided by Rotarians around the world continue to improve the lives of many. This coming year Rotary is working hard to increase the profile as well as educate the public on what we do. In many ways we are the 'world's best kept secret'. Once member of the public hear of what Rotary does, they immediately join! Who would not want to be part of an organisation that is international, encourages all to volunteer their talents and their time to improve the lives of others. If you are not a member, why not approach your own local Rotary Club to inquire. Your approach would be welcomed.
Have a great 2012 and visit my Public Image blog at http://public-image-action.blogspot.com/

So much sizzle!
As the new year in Rotary gets underway we have attended many different changeovers and last night attended my own Clubs changeover at Port Nicholson. It was a well attended event with much fun, laughter, many new faces as new members joined in the celebrations as President Jane was ushered into office. The big surprise of the night was for Jenny, being made an Honorary Member of the Club in recognition of the support she has given me and the District in the last 12 months. I was so proud!
New AG Colleen Singleton presented the new theme banner - Christopher and Gillian Robertson were recognised for their efforts with a weekend away package in Martinborough. A Paul Harris was given to Paul Fong's wife Tanya from Youth Quest - so well deserving. As well as a cheque to support their further work with youth.
Our next meeting with be with DG Bob and Margaret as they start their round of visits to our Clubs in 9940. I know they will have as much satisfaction and enjoyment as they serve the District and I am sure they will experience the 'sizzle' of fun through service that we have experienced.

Time for a CHANGE - FINAL POST
Some of you can now step back and take a break and allow someone else to take over your role. For others the role continues and I thank you for your willingness to continue to serve your Club and the community. For others, you will be stepping into a new role.

If you can follow all that well done!! We in Rotary do have a bit of a reshuffle come 1 July - and this happens world wide. It is called CHANGE.
To me Change is my ally - it is my partner in everything I do. This year District 9940 has continued to embrace the need for change. Outgoing RI President Ray Klinginsmith talks about establishing a climate for change. This has put our organisation in a good position to grow and to become more visible in the community. More will want to join forces to give back to their community.
Thanks to 'my team' this year and to all you have served so well.
Thanks also to all those who have followed this Blog - it has been a great journey.
I will be printing this Blog - if any want copies please let me know in the next week - there are two volumes (July - Dec 2010 and Jan to June 2011) at a rough cost of $80 each depending on volume ordered.
I have created a new Blog supporting our Public Image work in this region - so let's get started on a new journey!!

Ideas
In my new role I have the wonderful task of promoting the image of Rotary in our country. If you have expertise, contacts in this field or ideas (not matter how wacky) - please do not hesitate to send them through for me and the District Public Image Task Force to consider.
