Disaster Aid Australia, together with our international partners, Canada, USA, UK and Ireland today offered our assistance to The Hon. Foreign Minister, Mr Kevin Rudd and AusAID. Within Rotary, RI President Ray Klinginsmith and RI President Elect Kalyan Banjeree have also been contacted to enable a Rotary response to this devastating disaster.
We confirmed the availability of 1,000 humanitarian aid packs stored in Shanghai and that together with our fully trained DARTs (Disaster Aid response teams, who are on standby) could be deployed to arrive within 72 hours, if required.
All aid has been donated by Rotarians and other generous donors around the world.
We ask that you do not send Japan specific donations until we are advised of the need for our Disaster Aid International humanitarian aid – we will keep you informed.
