An aerial view of Christchurch now

The sad sight of Christchurch Cathedral
PDG Ross Skinner has worked tirelessly in connection with the recovery effort and relief programmes for Christchurch victims and assisting the community get back on its feet.  He wrote the other day:

Anyway still showering over a bucket here to do our bit to help our sewage treatment plant which is only able to work at 30% capacity. All other is flowing down our rivers and / out straight out to sea.
At least we don’t have to boil water anymore but the chlorine we are not used to at all, so we are still going and getting drinking water in 10 litre lots from a natural spring about 10 minutes away.

Managed to finally clear my office floor etc earlier this week. My street is just on the edge of the red CBD exclusion zone Salisbury St. Anne still can’t get into her office which is one street further in but they were allowed in a fortnight ago for two hours to ‘extract’ what they could carry /load onto a trailer.

I have appended below a link to an aerial photo of ChCh and environs taken 24th Feb.
If you click on the Hybrid option on the right hand side it will give you street names etc. The collapsed  CTV building is corner of Madras and Cashel St and PG&C corner Manchester and Cambridge Tce. I’m sure others in the office might be somewhat amazed at what can be seen.
All the wet and grey is the areas of liquefaction of course.
