Potential and passion - Paraparaumu has it all

President Chris, DG Howard
and Bob Taylor
It is always good to work with a Board of a Club that is passionate, attentive to new ideas and prepared to venture into new territories.  This afternoon, sheltering from the wintry blast, I met with President Chris and his team as we discussed the projects and the challenges faced by the Paraparaumu Club.  As well as reaffirming the need to move positively on the membership front, they also appreciated the need to look at and develop new projects.  They are all ready for their Art Show on Labour Weekend and this was heard on the radio by Jenny and me as we travelled back in the car after the meeting.  Their Big Dig is planned for Project Day on 26 February.  They are working with the Cluster on the Walkway project and they are also developing a Trees for Survival project with the local school.  Public profile is an areas where real interest was shown in what other Clubs have achieved - this Club has a weekly spot on the local radio which is great.  They have also ordered Usborne Dictionaries which they are soon to pick up and deliver to schools.
PDG Jim McKenzie & DG Howard
At the meeting I had the pleasure once again to meet PDG Jim McKenzie (from District 9980) who was most supportive with his comments.  Murray Jensen was also present - he was part of my Club at Port Nicholson when it was chartered in 1989.  After another wonderful meal and my change to address the large group of members and partner, President Chris gave me the honour of presenting a small gift to Bob Taylor who has served as Secretary for 14 years (or thereabouts).  Thanks to AG Deb and Neville for there support once again, and also to my lovely Jenny for just being Jenny!
