What a crowd at New Orleans

DG Howard, Irene (who stayed with us
in February), IPDG David and Michele
We have slept, had a free breakfast, walked to the Convention Centre and registered.  All very straight forward but boy oh boy!  This Convention Centre is BIG.

We went to attend the 'First Timers Orientation' session but it was full - so instead we went into the House of Friendship.  A gigantic
Mardi Gras time!
display area where there are display stands for all things Rotary, merchandise stalls and performance stages - as well as a load of places to rest and eat.
A well deserved rest!!

We met up with many of our friends and acquaintances.  DGE Norma and Gary who we stayed with in Rochester, New York state, PRIP Frank Devlyn and his lovely wife, DG Alan and Pat Church from 9950.  We also met up with Stuart and Adrienne Heal and PDG Judy, PDG
Wonderful to meet DGE Norma
and Gary from Rochester (NY)
Graham and Carlene as well as other 'kiwis'.

PRIP Frank and wife with DG Howard,
PDG Tony and Jenny
It is so impressive - a watershed of nationalities, all coming together to celebrate what Rotarians do best - serving others.  There are older Rotarians but predominately the age group I have
seen is predominately between 40-60, plus a large contingent of young IYE students.

RI President Ray welcomes everyone
Our first Plenary is tomorrow.  Tonight we go for a cheaper meal at 'Mother's Kitchen'.

And then there is Ray who we met briefly as he traveleddown the escalator - this is a great turn out supporting his wonderful year as world President.
