All our International students have arrived!

I invite all of our International Youth Exchange Students to write a comment to this Blog advising their name, their host Club, where they are from and their first impressions of living in New Zealand.  It is good that all have arrived - I am also aware of one other arriving from Chile around January as well.  I look forward to meeting you all and having you contribute to our Actions Count Conference in March 2011.

  1. My first impression of living in New Zealand, would be how open people are, you just feel welcome straight from the beginning. I have 2 host clubs Stokes Valley Rotary Club & Hutt Valley Rotary Club. Both clubs are really good, the speakers have all been very interesting so far, and the people in the clubs are very nice from what i can tell, it's hard to tell about clubs since you only see them once a week and it so early in the year, I don't know that much about them.
Some of the thing I've done so far is: Tramping with Peter Harvey and some other people. It was amazing, most of the views were breathtaking, but it was tough, because I'd never walked that far in my life - we walked for 7.5 hours tramping through rivers, bush-bashing and going up hill at lot. I've been skiing as well on mount Ruapehu with my second host family! It was amazing!
My school is pretty great too, it's a girls school and they wear uniforms so pretty different, but its so much fun and everybody is really open so I made friends really quickly!
I love being in New Zealand, its simply a great country!

I love New Zealand. I have gone skiing to Whakapapa and i had the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER my friends from school made me a sorprise and my host families got together at night and we went to a restaurant.
I have gone to Napier and it was really beatiful and my club has been really nice because they make me feel like part of their family.
I saw snow for the first time in my life and it was a really special moment for me.

  3. I have no words to describe how amazing my exchange program is being.
Life in Wairarapa is absolutely beautiful. Every small city surrounded by mountains with a little bit of snow on the top of them and it’s awesome for someone like me who has never seen snow before. Masterton is a really good city. It has some stunning views!
My first host family is lovely. They make me feel like another family member. They took me to my first rugby game and it was really exciting! I’ve been on snow for the first time when we went to Taupo and I also went bungee jumping there. I couldn’t stop taking photos in all the way.
It’s being an amazing experience at school because I’m not used to wear uniforms and definitely not used to have classes until 3:00pm. I’m impressed by how easy was to make friends. They make me feel welcome every time.
I have two host clubs. Masterton South and Masterton Rotary are so good, the speakers were really interesting so far and the people from them are so nice! I have so much fun in every meeting!
I couldn’t be more happy than I am now.
