Hutt Valley - early risers, achieving targets

President Carl Longstaff
calling the shots
This morning it was an early wake up call that got Jenny and I to Angus Inn in the Hutt Valley to join their breakfast club for a lively start to the day.  Here is a Club with a youthful membership and with heaps of ideas.  Present at the meeting was PDG Judy Bain who is busy planning the upcoming South Pacific President Elects Training which occurs early next year.  Also present was Doug Day from Pencarrow - he is pulling together events for all those Foundation Alumni people in our District.  And then there was AG Mark and Anna - providing wonderful support as I visit the Hutt 1 Cluster Clubs.  Then the are two Australia-New Zealand matched students who are about to end their exchange - all the richer for having been involved in the programme.  And then there was Dave Wilson - a man with a mission.  He proudly reported that in the first 10 weeks of this Rotary Year we have purchases 29 Emergency Response

neighbours
Kits (ERKs), totalling $7,400 donated from Clubs and compares favourably with a total of 60 ERKs that were purchased for the full Rotary year last year.  Well done 9940.  And then there was Roy Cox, the man who introduced me to Rotary and who is now so busy with his wife Sue in running one of the few Rotary Community Corps in the Pacific Region.  This is the Club who this week appears in the local paper for supporting Pomare School.  I look forward to more reports of the Hutt Valley Club becoming bigger, better and much bolder in their community.  The breakfast was nice too!

  1. Hutt Valley is definitely a very active Club.
Dave Wilson(Eastern Hutt) is definitely a man with a mission and that figure for ERKs is actually $17,400. Well done Clubs of District 9940. I know Dave will be visiting more Clubs during the year and your continued support will be appreciated.
    Kind regards
Martin Garcia, Chair, World Community Service District 9940.
