This lunch time I spent time at Wellington Central - a Club with so much to give and the focus to re-energise their Club under the leadership of President Auke.
President Auke in control |
Sir James Belich |
After a time with the Board we joined a large turnout at the meeting in the James Cook. I sat opposite John Bishop from my own Club and Sir James Belich who was the Mayor of Wellington from 1986 to 1992. We exchanged comments about the upcoming local body elections before President Auke asked me to speak. The focus of the message was to understand the qualities of their Club which would encourage others to join. What was the 'gold' in their Club that would bring new members in to experience the same satisfaction of giving back to the community. Here is a Club with loads of potential and an inner city lunchtime Club where much can be achieved as they work to rebuild their Club. Club Visioning was suggested as an excellent way to redefine their activity and focus. An enjoyable visit, even if it did take two shots at finding our way out of the car park!!
