Stokes Valley left us feeling stoked!

Look out Wairakei!!
A mean gang!
We arrived at the Avalon TV Studios (well, close by at least) and joined President Dennis and his team to discuss their new projects and the progress they have been making since they completed their Club Visioning.  Stokes Valley is a Club of 25 members sponsored in 1974 by Eastern Hutt.  It has a proud history and contributed significantly to their community over the years.  It has been recognised however that now is the time to refocus, to rejuvenate and to question what they are doing in order to rebuild their membership and activity.  As we concluded our Board meeting I noticed that not only was President Dennis looking a tad 'Al Capone' but those other members gathering by the bar were also of a distinctively 1920's look.  Well done Stokes Valley.  They had taken the opportunity with my visit to dress up for the occasion and when we entered the dining area there was music to match!!  After a lovely meal and a very convincing launch of their Wine Campaign for Te Omanga Hospice, I was asked to speak.  The main message I gave was to become proud and

Well done President Dennis
knowledgeable about what Rotary is and has to offer the community and to develop a Club with energy that will attract
membership.
I am convinced they are so many in our community who are waiting to be asked to join by as Rotarians, we are a little gun shy.  I challenged the club to lower their 'draw bridge' and invite the community to join their community service organisation.  I look forward to the great results this Club will achieve under President Dennis leadership.  Potential to burn!!
