Donations for our friends in need

In case you were wondering how to contribute to assist our friends in Australia who have suffered the horrific flooding in recent days, Rotary New Zealand World Community Service (RNZWCS) has set up a facility where you can deposit funds.

A helpful comment from Rob Crabtree just received:
I was with the Queensland governors at a meeting in Sydney on Friday and they were working through what was needed, but their main comment was money was probably the best contribution – either to the District or individual clubs.

The Christchurch/Canterbury Earthquake Appeal now stands at $169k. Again, good support from the public via Westpac and PayPal.

Also received from Bruce Allen (Manager Rotary Foundation - South Pacific & Phillipines):
A number of you have asked just what has happened to funds contributed to The Foundation’s Haiti Recovery Fund. As you would be aware, these fund are held to support a wide range of recovery programs instigated by Rotary clubs around the world and progress has been good. While it is not possible to specifically indicate what has been done with individual contributions, I believe the website link below will bring people up to date on progress and give some comfort in the knowledge that Rotary has once again risen to the challenge. The attached report will also add further emphasis on the great things our organization is doing to help people in need.
