Up, up, up and away!

As coordinator for ShelterBox I would like to express my sincere thanks for the organisation of a totally absorbing and sharing day of hospitality last Sunday.

After discussing the challenge confronting them including time restraints set in place for  Sunday Huw and Carolyn took the option of cycling to Upper Hutt on the Saturday and leaving the bike and box with Kevin & Linda Alkema (Upper Hutt President) to be picked up again the following  morning.  A big thank you to the Alkema family.

It was anticipated it could have taken up to two and a half hours to negotiate the hill but with a tail wind the top was  reached in one hour. Once at the top it was a formality to cycle to Featherston to be met by the local “bikies” and hence to be escorted by the local fire brigade to Greytown where they had the ShelterBox tent erected outside the cafe in preparation for the evening meeting.

Much appreciation for the two cheques for ShelterBox.

Once again thank you for that Wairarapa hospitality.

Yours In Rotary
