Super Typhoon Megi ** NEWS FLASH **
The Philippines Government has formerly requested the support of International Aid Agencies following Typhoon Megi which lashed 10 provinces in Northern Luzon, in the Philippines.
Kiwi ShelterBox Response Team members (SRTs) Arnold Kelly (Springs Junction) and Lyndon Tamblyn (Bulls) flew to Manila at the end of last week to co-ordinate the ShelterBox response in the stricken areas where over 1700 families are sheltering in evacuation centres. An intial 200 ShelterBoxes have been despatched to the devasted areas. Today, a third Kiwi SRT Walter van der Kley (Ashburton) leaves for Manila to help deliver the boxes into what is reported to be a large area of devastation.
