Civic Reception marks the end of Stage 1

Mayor Celia with Xaver, President Tony (Tawa)
and Ollie
It was a very wet group of cyclists that trundled into Civic Square pretty much to cue at 3pm this afternoon - and the sun decided to shine and the rain stopped.  Mayor Celia Wade-Brown and Trevor Mallard accompanied the lads as they cycled in to meet a small group of enthusiastic supporters.  Good to see PDG Tony there along with AG Glynis and Fred, President Tony (Tawa) and President Colleen (Wellington) plus others.  Jim Greenough (Wellington South) was there too with video camera in tow!  Looking slightly lost in the expanse of Civic Square we were invited inside to the Mayor's reception for a coffee and the exchange of a few words.
Dirt Merchants to the rescue
There are two fantastic ambassadors who tomorrow hop on the ferry to Picton to start they South Island leg.
Some running repairs were completed on their bikes as we met thanks to James Duncan Dirt Merchants.
