South Pacific PETS - a great event!

DGE Bob working with his Presients Elect

I was very fortunate to have attended the very first New Zealand and Pacific Island combined training weekend for President Elects.  This occurred in Auckland on 5-6 March and was an astounding success.  For the 15 Clubs that did not have a member at this event - please note the responses from those who attended:
  • I thoroughly enjoyed PETS. It was (for me) an extraordinary adventure into the wider Rotary world, and I learnt so much from interacting with like-minded people. The venue was ideal with great meals and accommodation. The programme was relevant and thoughtfully constructed, and each segment was timed just right. All power to the organisers who kept things humming and running to time. I hope SP- PETS runs again next year.
and another:

9940 PE's in deep discussion
  • Break-out sessions: good opportunities for networking (e.g. ‘Parents Be Aware’, and Tokelau with Rotary Porirua?).
  • Chance to hear RI P. (What a clever man!)
  • DGE session: emphasis on your vision/priorities, thereby helping us do ours.
  • Great ride away with Andrew Milne from R Taupo Espresso (!) – Just the model for S Wai. to follow.  (Steve Lillyston has volunteered to manage a ‘satellite’ start-up.)

  • Thought SPETS was very well done - the organising group should be very please.

  • As to South Pacific PETS I am all in favour of the concept and hope it can be continued.
  •  I found Saturday very useful but would suggest there was too much on the agenda for most of the breakout sessions to be as effective as they could be.
