Terrace End - a proud history and exciting future

President Bruce leading from

Terrace End is a Club chartered in 1958 and when I asked about their archiving, they quickly and proudly produced their 50th Anniversary publication entitled '5.30 Wednesday' which, after a quick flick through, has tremendous detail of the achievements and the people involved in this Palmerston North Club.  They also reported to me the formation and valuable on-going support provided by the Memorial Education Trust which provides support to those seeking to achieve a goal and does not have access to the normal channels for funding.  This is for 16-23 year olds.  Both Eddie Eggers and Bruce Markwell provided a history on the formation of this Trust which has been going for some 25 years - formed after the tragic death of two Terrance End Rotarians Mike Hansen and Reg Dixon. This Club has new found energy, looking at new projects and has recently successfully run a Wine and Food Festival which it plans again for this year.  It was great to again be involved in the induction of Ben.  The Club meets in the beautiful and stately Wharerata in the grounds of Massey University.  President Bruce is providing excellent leadership and PE Katrine is looking forward to attending the South Pacific PETS in
Ben McCreedy welcomed as a member
Auckland next year.  One of their members is currently in Africa on a photography assignment and I expect we will see a report in an upcoming issue of the RDU.  The Foodbank, a Relay for Life, Compost selling and getting behind the RUCHI project through working with the other Clubs in the Manawatu Cluster sees this Club with plenty of activity and energy.  It was good to visit yet another Club with a real focus and purpose.  Thank you Terrace End - and thanks to AG Scott for your support.
