KiwiRail unveils memorial for staff lost in war

Good to see an Exchange Student mentioned in the local press!

Read it here ....
This note was passed to me by IYE Convenor Peter Harvey:

The RIYE Students Manoelle Godin (Belgium) & Jasmin Arvedsen (Denmark) did Rotary and their country’s proud yesterday at the unveiling of KiwiRail’s Passchendaele Memorial at Hutt Workshops.

Both girls assisted with the ceremony by laying wreaths with returned service people and retired employees.

ManĂ³elle translated the “Ode of Remembrance” into Flemish and read both versions out during the ceremony. It was fantastic.

I have had so many responses today from the management and staff of KiwiRail with regard to their input into this event, the way they conducted themselves, the manner they interacted with the RSA members and staff alike showed maturity beyond their respective years. Rotary can be very proud of them.

Attached is an article that was in this mornings Dompost, I have also copied in the link to KiwiRail’s Express newsletter for your further information.

Thank you once again
