"I am prompted to think forward to that time in the future when our grandchildren will look back on this period in world history and judge the contribution our generation is making. I hope that we give them cause to observe not just the politics of greed but also the hope arising from humanitarian movements like Rotary. Alongside the undeniable hunger and bloodshed in our era I hope they will also have cause to note achievements such as the preservation of whales and the eradication of Polio."
