Assembly message - engaging with next generations

AG Scott, DG Howard, Jenny
and Michael Bolton
Assembly has come and gone!
Apart from the damp start, the 280 Rotarians who arrived at the campus enjoyed a day with workshops and discussions - all focussed on further improving the service we provide through our Clubs.  It was unfortunate that Director Stuart Heal was unable to attend due to family reasons.  The plenary sessions featured DGE Bob outlining the RI theme for the year, Lynne Mackenzie (incoming International President of Zonta International) spoke of collaboration partnerships' and PDG Judy outlined our exciting focus with the new Strategic Plan.  Workshops ranged from Rotary Foundation sessions, a special focus on the role of Secretaries and Treasurers, as well as special group discussions on membership and Public Image.
A multi District project that has taken only 4 months to
complete!  Thanks to all those who have contributed.
At lunch time we had a special visit from the Taveuni Ambulance, resplendent in the new yellow and red colours.  Members were able to see at first hand the vehicle which is about to head over to our friends in Fiji. Many thanks to those who placed money in the buckets to further assist in raising the funds to freight the ambulance from Auckland.
A great day with renewed focus on connecting with the younger generation.  It was so good to see the gathering of passionate individuals who have a real desire to serve their community.  This is a great time to be a Rotarian - reaching within to embrace humanity.
